FAQ
Common questions about how RealPic works and what verification means.
When is a photo shown as “verified”?
RealPic analyzes multiple signals at the moment of capture — device sensor data, capture metadata, image integrity checks, and the consistency between the raw image data and expected camera output. If the combined internal confidence is 80% or higher and the photo hasn’t been flagged by our review process, verifiers see it as “Photo Verified.” Otherwise they see an authenticity concern notice. The underlying score is not shown to viewers.
Why was my photo rejected?
RealPic looks for signs that an image was captured directly from a real scene, not re-photographed from another display. If the capture signals suggest you took a picture of a screen — for example, a phone, monitor, or TV showing another image — the photo may be rejected to prevent laundering of fake or downloaded images. Take the photo of the real subject directly and try again.
How long are verified photos stored?
Verified photos are stored as long as the owner keeps them. A user can delete their photo at any time, after which it will no longer be verifiable. If you try to verify a deleted photo, it will show as not found.
Who can verify a photo?
Anyone with the short code or QR code for a photo can verify it at realpic.io/app/verify. If the photo owner has set a passcode, the verifier will need that passcode to view the result.
Can RealPic see my photos?
Your photos are encrypted at rest with AES-256, so they can't be read directly from storage. Even RealPic admins can't view a photo unless it has been verified 5 or more times by other users, or flagged by our automated AI-authenticity check. This keeps photos private by default and limits manual review to cases where there's a legitimate reason to look.
What happens when I delete my account?
When you request account deletion, your account enters a 7-day grace period. During that time you're signed out and your account is inactive, but nothing is permanently deleted yet. If you change your mind, sign back in with Apple within 7 days and choose “Cancel Deletion” — your account will be fully restored. After 7 days, your account and all associated data are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
